The motorists and residents settled near Rawal Road are facing problems for more than a month as Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) had initiated repair work on the road which is yet to pick up momentum. The total cost of road repair is Rs334 million.
Whereas after the top layer of the Rawal Road was removed for initiation of repairs, the further work is yet to begin and the dusty portion of the road is causing great inconvenience not only to the road users but also to the residents of nearby areas.
Rawalpindi Development Authority spokesman Hafiz Muhammad Irfan told ‘The News’ that they will complete construction work of Rawal Road before December 31, 2016. The total cost of Rawal Road repair work is Rs334 million, he claimed. He also said that they will try to complete construction work of the road well ahead of time only to avoid dust pollution. Motorists should drive in slow pace here on broken portions of the road, he advised.
According to information, more than 70 per cent roads are in dilapidated condition in the Potohar Town. While more than 40 per cent roads are still in poor condition in Rawal Town areas whereas more than 50 per cent roads are in poor condition in Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) and CCB localities.
