PML-N councillor killed by two masked men

TOBA TEK SINGH: A PML-N councillor was killed and his friend injured by two unidentified masked motorcyclists near Chak 299/JB on Monday night. Witnesses informed Gojra City police that Councillor Muhammad Saleem of Chak 299/JB and his friend Muhammad Naeem were going to the village from Gojra when two unidentified people opened fire on them on Gojra-Toba Road. As a result, they were injured seriously. They were shifted to the Gojra THQ Hospital from where they were referred to the Allied Hospital in Faisalabad. Saleem succumbed to injuries on way to the hospital. Gojra City police have registered a murder case against the unidentified assailants. The councillor was a clerk of lawyer Ch Muhammad Raza. Meanwhile, the lawyers of Gojra observed strike against the incident. They also boycotted the courts to register their protest. They demanded immediate arrest of the accused.

17 teachers dismissed in Torghar

MANSEHRA: Seventeen teachers were dismissed from services in Torghar district after their documents are found bogus, an official said on Tuesday. “I have terminated 17 teachers from services who had been appointed on fake domiciles and certificates,” District Education Officer, Torghar, Zulfiqarul Mulk told reporters here.He said that he had received information that 16 teachers from other districts were appointed in Education Department in Torghar district on fake domiciles.

CJCSC discusses bilateral issues with Indonesian CDF

RAWALPINDI: Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Rashad Mahmood who is on official visit to Indonesia called on Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Indonesia General Gatot Nurmantyo and discussed with him matters of bilateral interest, mutual cooperation and geo strategic situation. According to ISPR during the meeting both dignitaries dilated upon measures to enhance cooperation between the Armed Forces of the two countries. The Indonesian General acknowledged the sacrifices of Pakistan Armed Forces in fight against terrorism. General Rashad Mahmood also called on Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs of Indonesia General (R) Wiranto. Earlier upon arrival at Headquarter Tentara National Indonesia (TNI) the CJCSC was presented the guard of honour.

IJT to launch Azm-e-Pakistan campaign

LAHORE: IJT Tuesday announced that it would launch Azm-e-Pakistan campaign under which conferences, talent awards, seminars and student fairs would be organised in educational institutions across the country. IJT Pakistan Nazim Syed Sohaib Uddin Kakakhel said this while addressing a press conference at the Lahore Press Club. He said according to reports 6.2 million youths were under the risk of drug addiction. He said millions of children were out of schools while some internal and external forces were active against the country. He said in this scenario it was need of the hour to mobilise the youth. IJT general secretary Faisal Javed, secretary information Syed Amjad Hussain Bukhari and other office-bearers were present.

Saad greets Shahbaz over PML-N’s victory in NA-162

LAHORE: Federal Minister for Railways Kh Saad Rafiq called on Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and congratulated him on marvellous success of PML-N in bye-election of NA-162. Speaking on the occasion, Shahbaz Sharif said that with the blessings of Allah Almighty and through the power of vote of the people, transparency, honesty and service had succeeded in bye-elections. He said people once again had rejected those indulging in sit-in politics. Shahbaz Sharif said that journey of selfless service to the people would be continued with more determination. Speaking on the occasion, Kh Saad Rafiq said that the PML-N victory on the seat of opponents in Chichawatni was a proof of the fact that people loved party leadership.

Shahbaz orders steps to check dengue

LAHORE: Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, while issuing directions to Provincial Cabinet Committee on Dengue Eradication, has said that all departments and institutions concerned should perform their duty in an active manner for dengue eradication. He said that all-out steps should be taken for eradicating dengue in Lahore, Rawalpindi and other cities. He said effective implementation of the plan evolved for controlling dengue should be ensured at every cost. Federal and provincial institutions concerned should take measures through collective efforts. He said there was no room for negligence or laxity in the implementation of plan devised for dealing with dengue.

KASUR: A youth shot dead his sister for ‘honour’ at Sheikhupurian village of Usmanwala police station.Ameer Dogar suspected the character of his sister Hifza. On the day of the incident, he tortured her and then shot her dead. Police have registered a case.

FAISALABAD: Anti-Terrorism Court Special Judge Raja Pervaiz Akhtar awarded four-year imprisonment and Rs 100,000 fine to an accused in a case of uploading provocative material on social media. The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) had arrested Zubair Ahmad of Chiniot for uploading provocative material on social media.
