It seems that Islamabad Electric Supply Company (Iesco) is recovering the losses it suffered while providing an uninterrupted power supply during three days of Eid, as now people are facing 8 to 10 hours of power outages. The consumers of rural areas of Islamabad and Rawalpindi are facing 12 hours of loadshedding after Eidul Azha.
The officials of Islamabad Electricity Supply Company (Iesco), on anonymity, alleged that the government has ordered us to provide uninterrupted electricity on Eid days and now ordering to recover the losses.
The consumers of Rawat, Kallar, Chake Beli Khan, Raqqa, Jatta, Shah Allah Ditta, Gulistan Colony, Caltex Road, Sher Zaman Colony, Bakramandi, Kurri, Khanna Dak, Shakriyal, Iqbal Town, Sadiqabad, Muslim Town and several other localities have strongly protested against long hours of power outages that is creating lots of problems for them.
After Eid, the residents have been spending sleepless nights due to humid weather and amid fear of dengue mosquito bites as the disease spread is on the rise.
According to power consumers, the concerned authorities are teasing public especially at night through unscheduled loadshedding, fluctuations, tripping and low voltage. After every 10 to 15 minutes or half an hour, power supply disappears for one or two hours creating difficulties for them, consumers said.
Iesco Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) Muhammad Ali said that we are trying to provide light maximum time. In winter season, we will start repairing work of all transformers to provide light maximum time to consumers, he claimed. He said that people facing hot and humid weather for some days therefore some of transformers not bearing over load, situation will be better after rain, he hoped.
The residents of majority of localities of city and cantonment are facing water shortage due to the absence of power. The heat-stricken residents of twin cities complained that unscheduled and prolonged power outages have made hot weather unbearable for them. They are spending sleepless nights due to power outages, they said.
A number of people told ‘The News’ that the long duration and unscheduled loadshedding has disturbed their routine life and it is very difficult for them to work in the offices after spending sleepless nights. They also said that we did not need this kind of relief which we pay after Eid in the shape of 10 to 12 hours power outages.
