SUKKUR: The Secretary of Agriculture Department of Sindh, Dr Saeed Ahmed Magnejo, said on Wednesday that his department had introduced the Sindh Growth Programme (SGP) to enhance the yield of paddy crop, chili, tomato and dates by providing research facilities and modern equipment to the farmers.

Talking to the media at the Larkana Press Club, Dr Magnejo said that the agriculture department with the support of the World Bank was working on a project of brick water courses in the province for facilitating the farming community and providing them with modern methods of cultivation. He admitted that the performance of the agriculture research institutions in Sindh was not up to the mark.

He said that during his visit to the Rice Research Institute in Dokri, he found discarded equipment in the laboratory.
