The Wafaqi Mohtasib Secretariat has directed all federal government ministries and organisations to set up helplines to address public grievances.
According to an official concerned, the information technology ministry’s help could be sought for the initiative.
Once the help lines are in place, the ministries will be bound to address the people’s complaints in a fortnight. And if that doesn’t happen, the complaints will automatically be transferred to the Wafaqi Mohtasib Secretariat’s complaint redressal system online for necessary action.
The official said citizens could file written complaints against federal government ministries and organisations with the Wafaqi Mohtasib Secretariat by hand or by email for action.
He said the secretariat decided complaints in 25 days at maximum.
Established in 1983, the institution of the Federal Ombudsman has been tasked with addressing the people’s complaints against maladministration on part of federal ministries and agencies.
