MANSEHRA: The district administration has cleared almost all hurdles in the execution of Suki Kinari hydropower project in Kaghan valley, an official said on Saturday.
“Though the hydropower project, being built at Kunhar River at a cost of $1.9 billion, suffered delay in its execution in recent years, now almost all issues, including land have been settled and drilling survey of the dam started,” said Deputy Commissioner Iqbal Hussain while talking to reporters after visiting the site of the 870MW dam.
Iqbal Hussain had earlier imposed a ban on the sale of property being acquired for the dam. “I am sure that this hydropower project, scheduled to be completed in six years, would be completed one year ahead of the its schedule as most of paper and survey work is complete,” said Iqbal Hussain.
He said on completion the dam would be proven an important tool in overcoming the energy crisis in the country.
