Russia strikes passenger bus in Ukraine, killing at least 30 civilians: officials

At least 30 people have been killed and 18 injured after a Russian aerial bomb struck a bus in the eastern Ukrainian city of Kramatorsk, according to local officials.

According to reports, the attack happened around 10:00 AM on Thursday near a dental clinic on Yuvileina Street.

The Donetsk regional prosecutor’s office said the death toll had risen to 30, while authorities suspended public transport across the city.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy accused Russia of deliberately targeting an “ordinary public transport stop” and warned that the death toll could rise.

“This strike will not go unanswered. Russia is trying to destroy all life in Donbas, and a response from the world is a must. A forceful response – exactly as the Russians deserve for all the deaths they have brought. May all those killed rest in peace,” he said.

Three other people were reportedly killed by Russian shelling in nearby Bilenke.

The attack followed a Russian strike on an apartment building in Pryluky on Wednesday that killed at least 22 people, including five children.

Zelenskyy urged Western allies to strengthen Ukraine’s air defences as Russian attacks continue.
