For those unversed with Swan Song, it is a memoir penned by Princess Diana’s brother Earl Spencer. Not only does it highlight some key moments in history, straight from his perspective, but also includes a number of allegations, like King Charles’ ‘giddy’ behavior when she passed, or his comments about ‘forgetting her soon enough’. Its also divided many loyal monarchists.
But a new report by Closer Online just revealed how her oldest son feels.
According to the report a source just weighed in rather candidly. According to them, it’s “harrowing” for William “to have all this horrible stuff about his mother in the headlines again.”
After all, its been 29 years since she past and “he’s spent years trying to put the painful memories to the side.”
“He doesn’t like going over old ground, much less having it aired publicly,” they even say.
However, there is a kind of helplessness in this situation too. Because according to the source, “at this stage there isn’t much William can do, and Kate has been trying to remind him of that. Her stance is that there’s no point dwelling on things he simply can’t control. Her advice is to stay busy, focus on the work in front of them and trust that eventually this will pass.”
Before concluding the same source even said, “Kate is also taking on as much of the emotional load as she can herself. It sounds clichéd, but she really is the glue holding everything together right now. William is leaning on her enormously and so is Charles.”
