The actress gushed over Tom Holland’s unexpected move that helped bring her back to Marvel
Tom Holland was the force behind Florence Pugh cameo in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
The actress surprised Spider-Man fans by reprising her role of Yelena Belova in the newest installment of the Spider-Man franchise released back in July.
During a recent chat with Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show, the actress admitted she was as surprised as the fans when asked to reprise her role.
In fact, it “happened because of Tom," Florence revealed.
She explained, “Years ago, when I just kind of started my relationship with Marvel and Black Widow had come out, my Yelena wasn’t as obviously big as all of the other big superheroes."
Florence recalled, “He (Tom), on the red carpet of his previous movie, when someone said, ‘Who do you want to be in the next movie with?… said, ‘No, actually, I want to do it with Florence Pugh, who plays Yelena.’ So because of that, fans were then so excited about the idea of it.”
For those unaware, Florence first played the role of Yelena in Black Widow, released in 2021.
Later in 2025, she also made an appearance in Thunderbolts.
On the other hand, Spider-Man: Brand New Day has become Tom Holland’s groundbreaking film, which has crossed 1 billion dollars at the box office within six days of its release.
