Sylvester Stallone gives blunt take on his new biopic: 'Not dead yet'

Sylvester Stallone is expressing his mixed feelings about his new biopic.

The 80-year-old Hollywood star, who previously gave his seal of approval to his biographical film, I Play Rocky, questioned the urgency of making the film while he is still alive.

During the promotion of his memoir at The 92NY in New York City, he was asked about his sentiments over his new film, which tells the story of Stallone's efforts to bring his boxing movie Rocky to the big screen in the 1970s, starring Anthony Ippolito.

The Rocky star replied, “Kind of mixed because I’m going, ‘I’m not dead yet. Aren’t we jumping the gun a little bit?’”

But after seeing Anthony in his avatar, Sylvester was left shocked.

He explained, “I actually thought it was me the first moment; there were a couple of angles. I go to my daughter and say, ‘That’s unbelievable.’”

The bodybuilder-turned-actor further shared, “I said, ‘I’ll just sit back and watch.’ I talked to the kid. I said, ‘If you want any questions, here I am,’ and that was it. But they did it all on their own.”

For those unaware, I Play Rocky officially premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on 12 September 2026.

It has also been reported that the biographical film I Play Rocky will receive nominations at the 2027 Academy Awards.
