Madonna reveals unconventional way she landed Sabrina Carpenter collab

Madonna is dishing on the unconventional way she contacted Sabrina Carpenter for a collaboration request.

And the partnership between the versatile duo eventually led them to win the Best Collaboration awards at the 2026 MTV Music Video Awards last night.

During the acceptance speech, Madonna recalled approaching Sabrina on Instagram's DM, “Everybody who knows me knows how impatient I am."

She continued, "And when five days passed and I still didn't get connected with Sabrina and didn't hear back from her about whether she wanted to do a song with me, I DMed her.”

The Like a Virgin star's strategy worked out, and she got a reply instantly.

“Within weeks, we were in the studio together,” Madonna shared. “It was fabulous.”

In defense, Sabrina noted, “My team replies, just so everybody knows! They do respond to people, but I respond faster. So, direct line to me is always the best way to get in contact.”

Madonna, who also took home the Artist of the Year accolade the same day, gushed over working with Sabrina.

“I love working with you because you are so professional and in this day and age, it's really hard to find professional people to work with.”

Dishing on the experience of working together and how they balanced each other out in the studio, Madonna recalled, "When I show up late, she shows up early, so it works out."

She quipped. “And she has OCD, and so do I. We write our lyrics down on pieces of paper, like they did in the 1800s.”

Madonna concluded, “It's been wonderful working with you, and I love the song.”
