Taylor Swift thanks Swifties as she receives special honour at 2026 MTV Video Music Awards
The 2026 MTV Video Music Award took place at Peacock Theater in LA on Sunday
Taylor Swift was glowing as she received the special honor at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday.
The 36-year-old pop star was awarded the inaugural MTV VMA Artist Director Honors at the Peacock Theater in LA on September 27.
Her BFF, Dakota Johnson, presented the trophy to Taylor.
“First of all, I want to say thank you to MTV for giving this platform to music videos so long ago," she said while accepting the award.
The Lover hitmaker further said, "I got to start making music videos and being a part of music videos 20 years ago, and since then, I’ve gotten to be a part of making 60 music videos, roughly 60 of them — 18 of those I wrote and directed, and I really love writing and directing music videos."
“I gotta tell you, though, the main reason why I love writing and directing music videos so much is because you, the fans, make it so much fun," Taylor continued. "You make it so rewarding because you actually care about what we’re making."
"So I want to say thank you to everyone who ever worked on a music video that I got to be a part of. I learned something from every single person that ever worked alongside," she added. “Mainly, I want to say thank you to the fans, and rather than say anything else ... I would love to, if it’s okay with you, show you my latest music video.”
After concluding her speech, Taylor premiered her latest self-directed music video for her new song Patient Zero starring Johnson and Colin Farrell.
