Anna Kendrick wants to challenge herself with more angry roles

Anna Kendrick essayed several roles: an outspoken high school girl in Twilight and an ambitious young business consultant in Up in the Air.

However, she has not played many angrier characters on screen.

At the Zurich Film Festival, she said the roles she was offered rarely included characters who expressed rage and anger.

Her interest in playing such roles came after she starred in Misty Green, where she saw co-stars Rich Sommer and Daniel Kaluuya doing a scene, and the latter burst into anger by following the script.

“We’re having a lovely dinner, and something upsets him, and he gets so explosively upset, and Rich and I were bonding over the fact that we don’t usually play characters like that.”

Such characters, Kendrick explained, would be interesting because, for one, she had not done it before.

“I think that would be very challenging and exciting, because the fact is I’m like five-two on a good day, and I’m just not usually asked to play that feeling."

Crediting Misty Green, Kendrick said, “I hadn’t really thought about it until I was in this scene in ‘Misty Green '. I think that would be something scary and interesting to do.”

Meanwhile, the actress is set to direct the Netflix adaptation of the novel The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo.
