Anne Hathaway recalls the one interview she was advised against

Anne Hathaway has revealed that she's actively avoiding appearing on the popular YouTube series Hot Ones.

The 44-year-old actress, who announced she's expecting earlier this year, said the reason behind it is her doctor, who she says has been advising against taking on the show's spicy wings challenge due to her pregnancy.

"My doctor said I couldn't do it because I might go into early labour," Hathaway said on Talk Of The Townsend podcast. "So, I still haven't done the gauntlet yet. I'm not sure when that's going to happen. Maybe next year."

The topic came up because Hathaway's new psychological thriller, Verity, features a fictional Hot Ones appearance by her character, interviewed by real host Sean Evans.

During the podcast, she explained how the idea came together. "If we could do something, like, get a Gayle King interview and Hot Ones that would be, like, the triple crown trifecta" for establishing her character as a cultural icon.

Hathaway also joked about wanting her real Hot Ones debut to feel authentic rather than scripted, comparing it to saving a first kiss for real life rather than experiencing it on-screen first.

"You don't want your first kiss ever in your life to be, like, an onscreen kiss, you want that to be a real thing where you're not playing a character at the same time as experiencing something physically."

In Verity, Hathaway plays a struggling writer hired to finish a paralysed author's unpublished book.

Separately,Hathaway, who has two sons with husband Adam Shulman, recently spoke about her busy 2026 schedule, which includes Mother Mary, The Devil Wears Prada 2, The Odyssey and The End of Oak Street.
