Television networks will resume their coverage of Trump’s events amid an ongoing court fight
Major US television networks are set to resume coverage of President Donald Trump’s events on Friday after changes to media access and coverage arrangements amid an ongoing court fight after the administration blocked outlets including MS NOW and Politico from the White House.
According to CNN, it will be at the National Archives on Friday when Trump is set to tour the complex housing America's founding documents including the US Constitution with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Trump had reportedly banned the three news outlets from the White House complex last week over coverage he declared to be untrue.
Earlier, reporting teams from three new outlets, press passes were confiscated today when their journalists arrived at the White House, signaling that they may contest the ban on the grounds of free speech and a free press.
The White House television press pool signaled it would not resume coverage until the White House reinstated CNN in solidarity with the cable news network. CNN along with ABC, CBS, FOX News and NBC shares the costs of covering the president and rotates pool coverage for other outlets.
The group’s refusal of the camera installation resulted in a lack of coverage of Xi’s visit to Washington so far.
