Ben Hutton joins Ottawa Senators on professional tryout ahead of NHL season
Ben Hutton also appeared in seven playoff games as the Golden Knights returned to the Stanley Cup Final
The Ottawa Senators have added veteran defenceman Ben Hutton on a professional tryout as competition for a roster spot intensifies ahead of the NHL season.
The Senators announced the move on Thursday, giving the 33 year-old a an opportunity to earn a place on Ottawa’s blue line.
Hutton spent the past five seasons with the Vegas Golden Knights and was part of the team that won the Stanley Cup in 2023, appearing in two playoff games during the championship run.
He played 55 regular-season games for Vegas last season, recording a career-high six goals and adding nine assists.
Hutton also appeared in seven playoff games as the Golden Knights returned to the Stanley Cup Final, recording one assist.
He brings significant NHL experience to Ottawa having played 575 career games, scoring 30 goals and recording 109 assists.
He has previously suited up for the Golden Knights, Vancouver Canucks, Los Angeles Kings, Anaheim Ducks and Toronto Maple Leafs.
Hutton will now compete for a place on the Senators’ roster as Ottawa evaluates its defensive options ahead of the upcoming season.
