Novo Nordisk reportedly partnered with Anthropic to speed up the Wegovy maker’s drug discovery and optimize its artificial intelligence-powered software programming development.

The company intends to speed up discovery and drug development by identifying Novo’s prime research challenges and engineering specific solutions.

The Danish drugmaker will initially test Anthropic models and Claude Science to streamline research and development workflows addressing scientific matters where their integrated capabilities deliver maximum strategic value.

In this connection, Novo CEO Mike Doustdar said: “But beyond this, AI tools can also offer completely new scientific opportunities and aid reasoning and understanding of human biology and drug mechanics.”

The Danish drugmaker will primarily use Anthropic’s models to advance its AI-assisted development which it said is key to digital transformation across the company.

Drugmakers are turning to artificial intelligence to accelerate R&D and maximize productivity across their processes. The Wegovy maker will use Anthropic’s cutting-edge models to strengthen AI-driven software development. Meanwhile, AI industry leaders remain split over how rapidly companies should develop next-generation technology.

Furthermore, Novo already uses Claude to automate reporting and slash documentation timelines from months to minutes.
