Norway's new king pays tribute to Princess Astrid
Princess Astrid died at the age of 94, two days after the death of King Harald
Norway's new King Haakon on Saturday paid tribute to his aunt Princess Astrid, who died on Friday, just two days after her brother the late king Harald was laid to rest.
The royal family shared new king's message with a video on Instagram with a Norwegian language statement from the monarch.
It said, " Princess Astrid was Norway's first lady, and she had official assignments until the end.
Princess Astrid was always particularly concerned about care and inclusion for the most vulnerable in society. She was very loyal and always carried out her tasks with dedication, presence and an infectious spirit. Aunt Astrid was an important support for King Harald and the rest of us in the family."
Astrid's brother Harald died last month, aged 89, after more than 35 years on the throne, and the princess made her last public appearance at his funeral on Wednesday.
