WhatsApp tests new hub to keep track of your events

If you've ever created a WhatsApp event and then lost track of it three chats later, you already know why this update matters. The WhatsApp developers have come up with an Events Hub test that collects all of your created and/or joined events on a single page, rather than keeping them hidden in the chat room in which you created them.

It will be found in your app's settings and will have a badge on it, just like the WhatsApp beta v. 2.26.36.5 for Android.

Prior to this update, your only hope would be to create your events in a particular chat room and then keep returning back to the very same chat room whenever you want to view the responses.

You can go ahead and start an event directly from the hub itself without needing to start it from a chat. You can then provide its name, description (optional), time frame, location, and WhatsApp link for the virtual event.

The reminder would be scheduled an hour in advance (by default, but this can be changed). There is also an option for determining if attendees can bring another person with them.

This is the important part about the process: WhatsApp creates a shareable link that any user can access.

Guests see the event name, date and time up front, and the full location and call link unlock only once they confirm attendance. If someone without WhatsApp wants to RSVP, they just enter their name and verify a phone number.

Your end-to-end encryption on personal chats and calls doesn't change here. As host, you can see each guest's name, RSVP status and phone number, but attendees can only see other guests' numbers if they already have that contact saved.
