Jeff Franklin shares what he predicted about Tom Hanks years ago

Jeff Franklin has finally revealed what he predicted about Tom Hanks when he was cast in Bosom Buddies.

For those unaware, Hanks played the role of Kip Amos Wilson/Buffy Wilson in the American television sitcom, which ran for two seasons on ABC from November 27, 1980, to March 27, 1982.

Sharing his thoughts in an interview with PEOPLE magazine, Franklin, the producer of Bosom Buddies, said, “I did three years on Laverne & Shirley, and then I went and produced and wrote Bosom Buddies. And obviously that was the sitcom that introduced Tom Hanks to the world.”

He went on to add, “Tom was only 24 when he started, but he was just so special. He had the whole package: charisma galore and incredible acting chops. He was funny as hell. And we all thought, ‘Oh, this guy’s going to have a nice career.’ Of course, we had no idea how nice.”

“He went on to become one of the greatest actors of all time,” Franklin gushed.

The creator of Full House admitted that writing for the show turned out to be “great” for him because he was “finally writing for young single guys, even though they were in drag half the show.”

It is pertinent to mention that Bosom Buddies had an ensemble cast, including Peter Scolari, Wendie Jo Sperber, Holland Taylor, Lucille Benson, Telma Hopkins, and others.
