Tom Cruise announces 'Days of Thunder' sequel

The magic of the 1990s is soon to be back as Tom Cruise announced he is going back behind the wheel for a sequel to Days of Thunder as Cole Trickle.

Starred next to Anne Hathaway this time, who, reports say, will play a new character while at the same time being a team owner and an engineer.

Jonathan Levine will helm the sequel while Will Staples will pen the screenplay.

Targeting IMAX specifically, the Days of Thunder sequel will be produced by Tom Cruise alongside Jerry Bruckheimer and Tommy Harper.

Meanwhile, the theatrical release is expected on June 2, 2028.
