Neasden fire near Wembley stadium: 125 firefighters battle massive blaze as London underground suspended
Train route disrupts as Metropolitan line completely suspended while Jubilee line partially closed and other rail services hit by heavy delays after Neasden fire
A massive fire broke out at a mixed waste facility on an industrial estate on Hannah Close in Neasden, north-west London (situated close to Wembley Stadium).
The London Fire Brigade (LFB) mobilized 20 fire engines and around 125 firefighters to the scene, backed by specialized equipment including three 32-meter turntable ladders, a drone team, and high-volume pumps. Over 70 emergency calls were logged after the fire started.
The blaze and heavy smoke plumes have severely impacted the London Underground network.
Thick, dark smoke has billowed across the skyline, prompting LFB to issue strict safety advisories urging local residents and businesses to keep all windows and doors closed and remain indoors.
The LFB was alerted just after 11:30 BST and has deployed 20 fire engines to the scene. Residents have been warned to keep their windows and doors shut because of the huge amount of smoke.
A TfL spokesperson said, "We're continuing to liaise with LFB to make sure we understand what we can operate safely for both our customers and staff."
The industrial unit on fire is approximately 100m by 150m (161,400 sq ft), the LFB said.
As reported by BBC, the Metropolitan line was completely suspended while the Jubliee line was suspended between Willesden Green and Wembley Park, with severe delays across the rest of the line.
The fire brigade added it had received more than 70 calls reporting the blaze, and its cause is unknown.
Additionally, Rail services into London Marylebone and local roads are also experiencing heavy disruption.
