Chaka Khan refuses to 'discuss' her love life after failed marriages

Chaka Khan recently got candid and broke her silence on her relationship status after going through three divorces.

For those unaware, the 73-year-old American singer-songwriter tied the knot with her first husband, Hassan Khan, in 1970; however, their relationship could not last and they annulled their marriage in 1971. Chaka’s second marriage was to Richard Holland; they married in 1976, welcomed a son, Damien Holland, and got divorced in 1980 due to irreconcilable differences.

Notably, her third marriage was to producer Doug Rasheed in 2001, but they neither disclosed their relationship nor their separation.

While giving an interview with the U.K.’s Observer newspaper published on Thursday, August 20, Chaka claimed to be happy on her own after living in failed marriages.

She said, “I don’t want to discuss that, because if I talk too much about what I would like to have, somebody will try to arrange it for me. So, I’m just going to mosey along and let life do what it do. One of them is not necessarily a partner. I’m not looking for that.” (sic)

“I’m partnered out,” the Trough the Fire hitmaker stated.

In addition, Chaka was asked about her forthcoming album, Chakzilla, and what actually inspired her to create it, to which she replied, “I’ve been waiting all my life for this moment.”

It is pertinent to mention that Chaka Khan’s album, Chakzilla, is scheduled to be released on September 18, 2026.
