Oakland: Magnitude 3.8 earthquake shakes Bay Area
No major damage or injuries have been yet reported
An earthquake with a magnitude of 3.8 struck the East Bay near the Oakland-San Leandro border today, sending tremors across the San Francisco Bay Area, according to the US Geological Survey.
The quake hit near the Oakland Zoo. According to reports, it was initially registered at 4.1 but has since been successfully downgraded.
The earthquake was reported across several areas of the East Bay and BART trains halt prevention. At present, no reports of significant damage have been yet reported.
More investigations are underway; the current quake measured at a depth of about 5.2 kilometers.
Notably, if the closer to the surface an earthquake starts, the more destructive impact it will cause. In addition, people reported feeling earthquakes larger than magnitude 2.5.
