Balmoral Castle announced on Sunday, "the grounds, gardens and exhibitions, now closed to the public"
King Charles Balmoral Castle has shared latest update two days after announcing it is closed for the public amid the royal family’s plans.
The Balmoral Castle announced its closure to the public on its official Instagram handle on Sunday.
It reads, “Balmoral Castle, including the grounds, gardens and exhibitions, is now closed to the public.
“Thank you to everyone who visited the Castle and Estate during the 2026 summer season. We hope you enjoyed your time at Balmoral and left with lasting memories of your visit.”
The announcement was made after its was reported later this month and next, the royals will host the wider royal family at Balmoral Castle, a short Land Rover ride away.
Following this development, the castle shared major update on its social media handle, saying “While the grounds, gardens, restaurant and exhibitions at Balmoral are currently closed to the public, our Main Gate Gift Shop and Terrace Café are open daily from 10am until 4pm throughout August and September.”
It added “If you’re travelling to the area or simply passing by, we invite you to come and say hello, browse our wide selection of gifts and enjoy a refreshment at the gates of Balmoral.”
