Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been at odds with a number of people over the last couple of years, and the ‘accused’ changed depending on whether they were in the UK or the US.
Now a well-placed source has come forward to Womans Day and talks at length about the ramifications of the move, the financial realities they are made to face on a daily, and the potential they are risking, in their efforts to maintain a financially free life in the US – away from King Charles’ purse strings.
Part of their ‘Hollywood dream’ now includes their holiday home in Portugal too. Not only because it offers Prince Harry a space where he can jet to England from, but also because of the amount of privacy it offers Prince Archie, Princess Lilibet and Meghan Markle.
In the eyes of the source, “their time in Portugal is always so invigorating, it’s such a great reset. Meghan came back very hyped up about spending a whole lot more time there.”
What they’ve also revealed is that “she says it checks so many boxes. For one thing they have so much peace and privacy there, it’s so nourishing. And they get much needed family time.”
Another thing that the insider offered more detail on is the fact that Meghan’s now looking at the possibility of them “making Portugal their part-time home base, not just a holiday place but somewhere they spend some meaningful time.”
But the financial ramifications of losing Spotify, and their quickly drying sponsorships and the apparent lack of new projects paints a grim picture.
There are even whispers that the couple might be spending more than they make, despite the cushion Prince Harry recently received in way of inheritances. Hence the insider warns, “this all hinges on whether their finances will allow them to have this home but there’s no doubt Meg has her heart set on it. She’s even talking with Eugenie about how they could team up and get involved in something together in Europe.”
Before signing off they also say, “she has been trying to collaborate with her on something for a long time, and being neighbours would make it easier.”
