David Foster sets record straight on Meghan Markle 'snub'

David Foster has cleared up the misunderstanding about a recent red carpet moment with his longtime friend, Meghan Markle.

A video circulating online suggested that Foster, 76, snubbed Markle at a charity gala on August 7. But in a new statement, Foster explained that the moment was misrepresented.

“As the host of the David Foster and Friends foundation event, I had already greeted our friends, the Duke and Duchess, at the entrance 10 minutes before the red carpet encounter,” Foster has told People.

He insister that there was no tension or snub between them, and that certain media outlets twisted a simple moment for attention.

“They both, graciously and selflessly, gave their time and went beyond to engage with everyone. Harry and Meghan are dear friends of mine. Anyone watching can see there was no awkward moment and certainly no snub.”

In the video, Meghan and Prince Harry are seen posing for photos when Foster briefly walks by. He returns shortly after with his wife, Katharine McPhee, and the two couples pose together, smiling and laughing.

The event was part of a weekend celebrating 40 years of The David Foster Foundation, which helps support Canadian families with children needing organ transplants. The gala raised over $14 million for the foundation, with a free concert held the following day.

Foster and his wife have a long friendship with the couple. McPhee and Meghan actually attended the same high school years ago, and their husbands later became close as well.
