Trump had taken a newly renovated Qatari-donated jet to Ankara for the NATO summit but unexpectedly announced he would use an older Air Force On
US President Donald Trump took a secret military flight from Turkey last month in an operation that involved him being moved between aircraft in a catering truck, an extraordinary deception prompted by an Iranian assassination threat, the Washington Post reported.
The White House said at the time that the president was flying aboard Air Force One from Turkey, where he had attended a NATO summit, to Britain.
But moments after Trump had boarded the plane, he left it in secret via the catering truck and boarded another aircraft for the flight to Britain, the Post said on Monday, quoting unnamed sources.
Shortly after the report was published by the Post, a video of the truck where Trump hid surfaced online, sparking reactions from social media users.
While his critics mocked Trump for hiding in a truck at a location far from the war zone, his supporters defended the move, saying the US president did nothing wrong to protect himself amid threats.
Many users posted AI videos of the president hiding in the truck with sarcastic remarks on social media.
Others wondered how the video of the truck even existed when it was part of a secret plan.
Commenting on the video, an X user wrote, “My favorite part: This Turkish catering truck nonchalantly moving from Air Force One to the other plane.”
“The leader of the free world had to sneak out of a NATO summit hidden in an airport catering truck. You cannot make this up,” wrote another.
