Google Maps AI can now order food for you: Here’s how it works

The wait is over as a new feature in Google Maps can now order food for you and plan your trips.

The AI-powered “Ask Maps” tool in Google Maps can now perform an expansive suite of tailored and natural-language inquiries including ordering food, finding hotels and showing suggestions that accommodate your current schedule.

According to Google Maps head, Miriam Daniel, “These are among several new features announced for Ask Maps today which aim to make it easier than ever to get more done without having to close the Google Map app.”

How it works

Ask Maps can now find hotels and local events aligned with your requirement such as specific design aesthetics or being within walking distance of gyms, restaurants and other facilities.

Maps also allow you to update business information conversationally through Ask Maps and the Contribute tab. This includes adding geographical identification metadata to your storefront image before uploading it. Maps will then extract information like opening hours and ask you to confirm the suggestion edits before submitting them.

Food ordering and discovering hotels has become one of the latest trends in the US with more countries to come since Google Maps are set to roll out Personal Intelligence features.

The Ask Maps tool established frameworks using details like upcoming flights or dinner reservations when responding to your requests. While the real-time transit tracker is rolling out everywhere, AskMap has been expanded to include Australia, Brazil, Canada, Indonesia, Japan and Mexico.
