Rawalpindi
At the moment someone may never have an idea about a classroom without a black/white board in our cities but this is going to become a reality in the schools as the provincial education department has initiated spadework to only use projectors and computers to impart education to the students.
Chalkboards seemed to be a staple in the classroom until 2000, when most higher learning institutions replaced the chalkboard and chalk with whiteboards and dry-erase markers. With a new sleek, white design and colourful markers, students' interest in learning seemed to peak just a bit.
Most of the public sector schools in Punjab also started using white boards that helped teachers increase the interest of the students in their studies. Now the provincial government intends to utilize the modern available resources like projectors and computers to herald a new era in the education sector.
A senior official said the proposal to introduce projectors and computers in the classrooms is under consideration and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif is very much keen to improve the standard of the public sector schools in line with the best international practices.
“No funds have been allocated yet to introduce projectors and computers in the public sector schools but once the proposal gets final approval then the provincial education department would start releasing funds for this purpose,” he said.
