Prince William, it is said, has not enjoyed a healthy relationship with his brother, Prince Harry, and Meghan Markle for quite some time.
The matter is so delicate that it is claimed he shut out Justin Welby, the former Archbishop of Canterbury, because of Welby's involvement in the Sussexes' wedding.
Roya Nikkah, The Times royal editor, made this explosive claim in a recent podcast, saying Welby offered guidance to the couple who, per the reporter, received a cold shoulder from the royal family at the time of their wedding.
"They ran up to their wedding and, you know, as things escalated in terms of tensions with the rest of the royal family," she says, adding, "They definitely, you know, had a strong relationship with Justin."
"Welby worked on that relationship and, I think, sought counsel from him," Nikkah claims on the podcast.
But matters came to a head when Markle dropped a bombshell in her famous interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2021.
She claimed Welby had secretly officiated their wedding three days before the official ceremony.
This has put the Welby in an awkward spot, forcing him to issue a statement claiming that he was not part of the private ceremony.
William noticed this, claims the royal expert, which made him grow his distance from the former Archbishop of Canterbury. The latter team even tried to reach out to the future monarch.
But from his side, he allegedly ignored it.
Ignored were the requests for meetings or attempts by the Welby team to build bridges.
"William is someone who does hold a grudge," claims Nikkah, alleging, "He does choose sides. If someone, you know, picks the other side, he remembers that.'
