Natalie Portman reveals why Oscar-nominated 'Arco' raised 'big questions' at home
The actress shared her kids deeply relate to the new animated film
Natalie Portman opened up about how the animated movie, Arco, which recently gained an Oscar nomination, feels relatable to her kids.
The kids' animated movie which Natalie also produced, made its debut at the Cannes Film Festival in 2025.
The tells a story of the bond between two kids who met when a time travel goes wrong.
"It was incredible to watch it with them," Natalie said of her kids, son Aleph, 14, and daughter Amalia, 8.
Revealing how the film's futuristic topic fascinated her kids, Natalie shared it "raised so many interesting conversations from why the parents are holograms and not at home to, of course, the climate challenges that the kids face in it, to some of the solutions that the kids come up with, like 'Is that really possible in life, living on platforms above the earth to let the earth rest?'"
"Things like that are amazing conversations I got to have with the kids because of the movie," the Academy winner added, via People.
Sharing insights into the animated movie, Natalie shared that the film "really talks to" kids and focuses on the importance of imagination and "that everything that has ever been invented came from someone's imagination."
The mom of two said, "The story dealt with very pressing issues and offered so much inspiration and hope and encouragement of imagination for children."
"I think that it takes kids very seriously. It doesn't try and gloss over things. Kids are living through all of these experiences right now, and I think need to be talked to with a lot of respect," she added.
