RAWALPINDI: A complete strike was observed on Monday, called by the District Bar Association Rawalpindi, in protest, alleging that the District Administration and stakeholders ignored the agreed-upon matters in the Katchery Chowk project.

Lawyers boycotted court matters in the Judicial Complex and District Court, resulting in future dates being given for cases. Bar President Sardar Manzar Bashir and Secretary Asad Mahmood Malik stated that the Bar had cooperated with the District Administration and stakeholders in the project, but the agreed-upon matters were ignored.

The old mosque of the District Court, Hamza Block, and adjoining chambers, commercial kiosks, and shops were demolished, but alternative parking and routes were not provided, disrupting the functioning of courts and causing difficulties for lawyers, litigants, and others.

The Bar Association has given an ultimatum to the institutions involved in the project, warning that if immediate action is not taken to alleviate the difficulties, lawyers will protest and take to the streets, including legal action.
