The District East traffic police on Monday issued a traffic diversion plan after the closure of University Road due to construction work by the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board.
Officials said that under the ongoing development projects in the city, an 83-inch diameter line is being laid on University Road under the K-4 project. In this regard, traffic on University Road will be diverted to alternative routes.
The traffic going from Sir Syed University to Civic Centre will be diverted from Bashar Ahmed Ghaziabad Road to the back of Urdu University, which will turn back and come from the side of National Bank on University Road and will continue to run on Civic Center Road.
Traffic on University Road on the Nipa Flyover side will continue to run on Civic Centre Road as long as the development work continues on the side. As soon as the pipeline is crossed, all traffic will be completely diverted from Nipa.
In the second phase, traffic coming from the Civic Centre to Nipa will be shifted to the other side of the road and Civic Center traffic will be led towards Nipa. They added that the traffic police personnel will be present during the development work to provide guidance to the citizens. Citizens are requested to avoid inconvenience and trouble by calling the traffic helpline 1915 to choose alternative routes where our representatives are there to guide you and keep listening to FM 88.6. Meanwhile, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah issued instructions to the Water Board and Traffic Police to ensure pubic convenience.
