Additional IG Karachi Javed Alam Odho on Saturday inaugurated the Command and Control Centre equipped with 250 CCTV cameras set up by Community Policing Karachi (CPK) at Darakhshan Police Station.
Officials said that on this occasion, the SSP South, SSP Central, SSP City, other senior police officers, CPK chief and Justice of Peace Murad Soni and others participated.
Murad Soni highlighted the details of the project and its objectives and said the aim of this project is to prevent crimes in the South Zone, monitor suspicious activities and ensure timely arrest of the accused.
Additional IG Odho said this modern system of the CPK will further improve the operational affairs of the police. He said all developed countries of the world have cameras, the Punjab system is ten years old and they have taken it a long way. He added that when we thought about it, we found Murad Soni, who said that we will install cameras.
The command and control system has been working in 16 police stations of Karachi, which has significantly reduced crimes. Odho appreciated the professionalism and commitment of Murad Soni and his team to public service and said their role is commendable.
Among the 250 cameras installed in the Darakhshan police station area, there are also modern ANPR high-resolution cameras that are capable of recognizing vehicle number plates.
At the end of the ceremony, Murad Soni and his team presented shields of honour to senior officers and dignitaries, including the additional IG.
