ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Thursday denounced an alleged drone strike and subsequent mortar shelling in South Waziristan, claiming the lives of senior tribal elder Malik Mir Hassan Mehsud and his 14-year-old daughter.
According to the party’s Central Media Department, Malik Mir Hassan was the uncle of PTI Union Councillor Usman Mehsud. The party extended its heartfelt condolences and solidarity to the bereaved families, his daughter, and all martyrs of the tragic incident, vowing that their sacrifices will never be forgotten.
The party reaffirmed its commitment to continue raising its voice at every forum for the people of Waziristan and protection of all Pakistani citizens. Adding to the tragedy, the party claimed that a second mortar attack was reportedly carried out prior to the funeral prayers, resulting in further casualties and injuries.
Meanwhile, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan said 16 cases were pending with a three-member bench in the Islamabad High Court. Talking to the media outside the Islamabad High Court, he said all these cases were pending for a meeting with the PTI founder. He pointed out that more than 200,000 cases were pending in Punjab alone.
