The body of a seven-year-old boy who had been missing for six days was found late Monday night in a garbage dump in Landhi’s Lal Mazar area. His funeral prayers were offered on Tuesday.
According to SSP Korangi Tariq Nawaz, the child, identified as Saad Ali, went missing on September 18 while playing outside his home. His family had lodged a missing person report at the Landhi police station the same day.
The police said the boy’s body was discovered stuffed in a sack near his residence. Rescue workers transported the remains to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where a postmortem was conducted.
Police Surgeon Dr Summaiya Syed stated that the findings were suggestive of anal sexual violence. She added that the cause of death was a head injury. Samples were collected for further forensic analysis.
After the completion of legal formalities, the body was handed over to the grieving family. The child’s funeral prayers were offered after Zuhr and attended by a large number of people, who later staged a protest demanding justice and the immediate arrest of those responsible.
The police had launched an investigation to determine whether the boy was murdered following the assault or under other circumstances. Officials stated that all aspects of the case were being examined, and efforts were ongoing to identify and apprehend the culprits.
