KHAR: Terrorists carried out a drone attack on Loe Mamond Police Station in Bajaur district on Saturday afternoon, leaving a cop and a civilian injured, officials said on Saturday.

The attack occurred around 4 p.m. when a drone-fired projectile exploded in the courtyard of the police station, injuring Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Muhammad Habib and a local resident, Najeebullah from Laghari village. Both were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital, Khar, for treatment.

Separately, a mortar shell strike on a residential house in Gohati area of Loe Mamond tehsil late Friday night killed one person and injured another. The deceased was identified as Shakirullah, while Niaz Muhammad was injured and taken to DHQ Hospital Khar. Shakirullah’s funeral prayer was offered in his native village.

The back-to-back incidents have triggered large-scale displacement from parts of Loe Mamond, including Ghakhi, Nakhtar and Gohati, as residents expressed fear of further militant activity.

Meanwhile, the Bajaur district administration has ordered the closure of all government and private schools in Khar tehsil until further notice.

Acting on the directives of Deputy Commissioner Bajaur, a formal notification was issued by Deputy District Education Officer Lodhan Shahid and Assistant Commissioner Khar Dr Sadiq Ali. The statement said the decision was taken “in the public interest,” with reopening to be decided later depending on the situation.
