‘Notorious robber’ killed in Charsadda encounter

CHARSADDA: A notorious robber was killed during an encounter in the Harichand Bazaar area in the jurisdiction of Mandani Police Station here on Thursday.

Officials said the police recovered a Kalashnikov rifle from the slain, who was wanted in several cases including robbery, attempted murder and attacks on law- enforcement.According to police sources, Fazal Malik was involved in a violent robbery incident on July 28, 2025.

On Thursday, Fazal Malik and his accomplices allegedly stormed a shop in Harichand Bazaar, held a citizen at gunpoint and snatched cash. As they fled the scene, the suspects opened fire into the air and launched a hand grenade attack on the pursuing police party, injuring a passerby.

Following intelligence reports, the police launched an operation in the Mandani area. Officials said the suspect opened indiscriminate fire and hurled another hand grenade at the police party, injuring Constable Noor Ayaz. In the ensuing exchange of fire, they said, Fazal Malik was fatally shot.

Police officials said that Fazal Malik was a resident of Malakand district and had been a long-time fugitive, involved in multiple crimes across various areas under Mandani Police Station. Several serious cases, including armed robbery, grenade attacks, and attempted murder, were registered against him.
