NA committee displeased over non-development of Sector E-12

The National Assembly Standing Committee on Government Assurances on Wednesday expressed its displeasure over non-development of Sector E-12 despite lapse of 26 years since launch of the residential sector.

The committee discussed the assurance given by the Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs given to the house on a calling attention raised by Sher Akbar Khan MNA regarding non-completion of development work in Sector D-12.

The CDA chairman who also attended the meeting informed the committee members that the announcement of award of land for Sector E-12 made in the past, was an inappropriate step taken by authority’s management.

He said that there should have been sufficient funds for the purpose before announcement of the award. “However, we are making efforts to form a board of honest officers to resolve the issue amicably,” the CDA chairman said.

Meanwhile, an official announcement by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Wednesday said that construction work on dualised service road North and service road West of Sector E-12/2. This project would cost Rs72 million and would be completed in five (05) months time.

Under this project, not only both dulaised service roads would be constructed but one box culvert and drainage system along the roads would be also developed. Each service road would be one kilometre long, the press release said.

The press release while quoting the CDA Chairman Maroof Afzal said that sector E-12 remained stalled for the many years, however, in order to cope growing housing needs in the city and solve long standing issue of the allottees of the sector, present CDA management device a comprehensive strategy to initiate development work in Sector E-12.

He directed the project director to ensure timely completion of development with special focus on quality of the work. He directed the concerned formations to complete all formalities so that other development activities in the sector E-12 could be started soon after completion of this project.
