ALPURI: The 6th Syndicate meeting of the University of Shangla reviewed the recommendations of the Finance and Planning Committee, including budget proposals, fee structure revision and the creation of new positions for both faculty and non-faculty staff.
The meeting was held at the Committee Room of Islamia College University Peshawar.Prof Dr Sardar Khan , Vice Chancellor of the University of Shangla, chaired the meeting.Ali Qadir, Special Secretary Establishment, Javed Iqbal, Additional Secretary Higher Education Department, Arshad Ali, Additional Secretary Finance, Sameen Durrani, Director Budget/Finance Higher Education Commission, Justice (Retd) Jamaluddin, representative of Peshawar High Court, Syed Al-Abrar, syndicate member, Dr Faizur Rehman, Director Planning and Development, Dr Ashfaq Ahmad, treasurer; and Dr Fazal Qudoos Khan, Registrar attended the meeting.
The proceedings began with the recitation of the Holy Quran followed by a brief introduction.The vice-chancellor welcomed the participants and invited the registrar to present the meeting’s agenda.
The syndicate deliberated on several key issues. Recommendations of the Academic Council were approved, which included academic expansion at both undergraduate and graduate levels, adoption of HEC policies, establishment of faculty positions, and introduction of diploma and certificate courses.
The proposal to introduce market-driven academic programs was highly appreciated by the members.The syndicate reviewed the recommendations of the Finance and Planning Committee (F&PC), including budget proposals, fee structure revisions, and the creation of new positions for both faculty and non-faculty staff.
It was agreed that these recommendations be forwarded to the Senate for approval.The issue of salary delays and the absence of a clear service structure for employees was also discussed in detail, and possible solutions were proposed.The vice chancellor thanked all members for their input and active participation.
