ISLAMABAD: The think tank Economic Policy and Business Development hosted a luncheon in Lahore in honor of the Global Forum Dialogue delegation, led by former ambassador Ali Jehangir Siddiqui.

Economic Policy and Business Development CCO and former Federal Secretary Ahmed Nawaz Sukhera said that Pakistan is in urgent need of business-friendly policies, and EPBD is committed to bringing the government and private sector onto the same page. According to a press release, Economic Policy and Business Development chairman and former caretaker Federal Minister of Commerce Dr. Gohar Ijaz had invited the Global Forum Dialogue delegation. The delegation was led by former ambassador Ali Jahangir Siddiqui.

Ahmed Nawaz Sukhera said that Pakistan’s economic recovery depends on evidence-based policies. He said private sector-led economic revival is extremely important, as the private sector can provide employment to millions of youth. “EPBD is working on five-year shadow policies, and Pakistan’s first Wealth Perception Index has been prepared, which includes 40 major business groups of the country,” he added. Sukhera said that employment for the youth is possible only through private-sector development, and fair interest rates and reasonable taxation are essential. He said bridging the policy gap between the government and business community is vital.

Ali Jahangir Siddiqui thanked Dr. Gohar Ijaz for hosting the delegation. He said the Dialogue Forum delegation is reviewing economic reforms in consultation with Pakistani business leaders.

The Global Dialogue Forum delegation includes representatives from the United States, the United Kingdom, Austria and Norway.
