ISLAMABAD: The sub-committee of Public Accounts Committee (PAC) on Wednesday took up the major audit objection regarding non-recovery of over Rs15 billion under the Gas Infrastructure Development Cess (GIDC), with the Petroleum Division informing lawmakers that more than Rs13 billion had already been recovered.
The PAC sub-committee, chaired by convener Shahida Akhtar Ali, held a meeting to review audit objections related to the Petroleum Division for the fiscal years 2010-11 and 2013-14. The session focused primarily on non-recovery of over Rs15 billion under the GIDC.
During the briefing, the secretary Petroleum Division informed the sub-committee that more than Rs13 billion had already been recovered, while the remaining amount was tied to cases pending before the courts. He assured that the Petroleum Division was actively pursuing the case in courts.
After discussions, the sub-committee referred the court-related matters to the Review and Implementation Committee of PAC for further scrutiny and follow-up.
