LAHORE: Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, in her message on the International Day for the Promotion of Tolerance, said that fostering tolerance through mutual understanding among people is the need of the hour.
She added that tolerance holds even greater value in an age marked by rising extremism and violent conflicts. She stressed that ending hatred, intolerance and discord is only possible through love, patience and agreement.
The CM urged citizens to work towards making the world a better place where everyone can live in peace. She said, “Let us embrace patience and tolerance for healthier coexistence.”
She noted that the world is already burdened by countless issues stemming from intolerance. She underlined that society could remain peaceful only by walking the path of tolerance.
CM Maryam Nawaz said the life of Holy Prophet (PBUH) is the finest example of patience and tolerance, as he showed forbearance even toward his harshest opponents. She added that Islam teaches peaceful living and tolerance for others, since negative conduct leads both families and society towards destruction.
She further said, “To counter intolerant behaviour in society, we must adopt patience, tolerance, positive thinking and best practices with others.” She stressed that every segment of society must fully contribute to strengthening the culture of tolerance. She stated, “Today, we reaffirm our resolve to play our full role in promoting tolerance.”
The chief minister also expressed deep grief over the death of four people, including two brothers, in a traffic accident in Shujaabad. She extended condolences and heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family.
