PESHAWAR: The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) judge, Wali Muhammad Khan, on Saturday directed prosecution witnesses and the investigation officer (IO) to appear along with the case property at the next hearing of the Radio Pakistan attack case linked to the events of May 9.
During the hearing, the complainant submitted a power of attorney to the court.
According to the prosecution, on May 9, 2023, a mob of protesters set fire to the Radio Pakistan building.
Following the incident, East Cantonment Police Station registered a case against around 80 suspects, including Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawmakers Meena Khan Afridi, Fazal Elahi and Asif Khan.
The prosecution stated that more than 80 suspects, including other PTI workers, were nominated in the case. Police completed the investigation and the trial was in progress. However, nine of the accused had yet to appear before the court and they still remained absconders.
The court ordered that prosecution witnesses to appear along with the case property at the next hearing and adjourned proceedings until November 25.
