King Charles held a solemn but king demeanour as he held an important meeting with important guests at Windsor Castle while Queen Camilla marked some celebratory events at Buckingham Palace.
The monarch on Wednesday was seen holding a key ceremony after he had made some significant changes in his reign regarding the honours presented to the civilians.
In March 2024, Charles introduced the new tradition of the Elizabeth Emblems to acknowledging the efforts of brave UK citizens. He is now carrying it forward as he held the second ceremony for it.
The King’s office shared a statement as Charles presented the awards in what appeared to be an emotional ceremony.
“The King has presented Elizabeth Emblems to the families of brave public servants who died in the line of duty,” the message read. “The Elizabeth Emblem is the civilian equivalent of the Elizabeth Cross, which recognises members of the UK Armed Forces who die in action or as a result of a terrorist attack.”
It continued, “The design of the Emblem incorporates a rosemary wreath, a traditional symbol of remembrance, which surrounds the Tudor Crown.”
Charles was seen having conversation with the families as they recalled the stories of the brave individuals not present in the world anymore. It is understood that there had to be some melancholy tucked in those talks even though it was a moment of pride for the families.
Meanwhile, just few miles away, Camilla was in a much better mood celebrating 75 years of English National Ball in reception.
