KARACHI: The Karachi Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has expelled 32 members of the City Council for violating the party discipline during the mayoral election.
Issuing a letter to the mayor, Karachi PTI General Secretary Arsalan Khalid said that 32 City Council members have been declared defected members and expelled from the basic membership by the party’s central leadership.
He asked the mayor to ensure that these 32 members shall not be treated as members of the PTI in official meetings, records or public references as they are no longer associated with the party.
PTI spokesperson Fauzia Siddiqui told the media at the Insaf House Karachi that the party has expelled 32 members of the Karachi City Council for violating its discipline during the mayoral election.
She said that the expelled members had defied the party policy and acted against its directives, leaving “no justification for them to retain their council seats”. She maintained that the PTI remains the largest representative party in Karachi despite what she described as “widespread rigging” in the local government elections.
“A few conscience-sellers betrayed the party and Imran Khan after securing votes in his name. PTI has completely severed ties with such individuals, and they are no longer entitled to use the party’s name or platform,” she asserted.
Siddiqui said that those who betrayed Imran Khan “have already met their political death” and that the public “will never forgive them.” “These individuals witnessed their political end at the very beginning of their careers,” she added.
The PTI spokesperson further stated that in the upcoming local government elections, the party would field those workers who made sacrifices during difficult times. “Workers are the true strength and asset of the party, and their contributions will never be forgotten,” she emphasized.
Expressing optimism about the political future, Siddiqui said: “God willing, the day is not far when Imran Khan will be free, and Pakistan will see the supremacy of the Constitution, the rule of law, and the establishment of justice. Under his leadership, the country will move towards prosperity and development.”
