RAWALPINDI: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) once again issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Aleema Khan, the sister of former prime minister Imran Khan, here on Monday due to her repeated failure to appear before the court.

ATC Judge Amjad Ali Shah conducted the hearing of a case, filed at the Sadiqabad Police Station pertaining to the Nov 26 protest. Neither Aleema Khan nor her legal representatives attended the proceedings, prompting the court to express serious displeasure over her continued absence.

During the hearing, Prosecutor Zaheer Shah presented five witnesses and informed the court that while other accused and witnesses had been appearing regularly, Aleema Khan had repeatedly ignored the court summons.

Consequently, the ATC reissued non-bailable arrest warrants against her and directed the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra), the State Bank of Pakistan, and the Director General of Immigration to submit reports regarding the blocking of her national identity card, passport, and the freezing of her bank accounts. The hearing was adjourned until Oct 30.

In another case, Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Abual Hasanat Muhammad Zulqarnain ordered for removing the passport of PTI Senator Azam Swati from the block list. A petition, filed by Azam Swati, argued that he was in jail at the time of registration of the case and his name was included in the block list only to prevent him from going abroad. During the hearing, the court accepted Azam Swati’s application after hearing the arguments.

In another case, Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Abual Hasanat Muhammad Zulqarnain granted pre-arrest bail to Faisal Amin Gandapur, brother of PTI leader Ali Amin Gandapur, in two cases. While hearing the pre-arrest bail applications, the judge granted interim bail against bonds of Rs5,500 each and issued notices to the parties. The court adjourned further hearing of the case till Nov 24. Cases are registered against Faisal Amin in Sangjani Police Station and Secretariat.
