Dax Shepard and his ex-girlfriend Breigh Morrison stayed friends after they broke up, even when he began dating now-wife Kristen Bell, and they had to make some adjustments.
The 50-year-old actor sat down for a candid conversation with Morrison, about when Bell, 45, initially grew uncomfortable about their bond.
The Parenthood star began, “I think initially when Kristen and I started dating, you were still coming over a lot because my mom was living at my house. You were around even in like the first month or two we were dating,” during his podcast Armchair Expert, on Tuesday, October 21, with Morrison as a guest.
Shepard continued, “And she initially was like, ‘This is really wild. I’m not friends with any of my exes. I don’t hang out with any.’ And I’m like, ‘I’m friends with all mine pretty much.’”
However, he shared that eventually the Nobody Wants This star got totally comfortable with it.
The Hit and Run actor went on to admit that his breakup with Morrison left him feeling hopeless about ever falling in love again.
“The breakup was manageable, but I will say, for a while, I did think, ‘Well, I’ll never be in love with someone again in that way,’ I had a deep fear. I’m like, ‘Oh, I don’t think I’ll ever really feel the way I felt about Briegh with anybody,’” he said.
Fast forward to his first meeting with the Good Place actress, everything changed, and they got married after two years of dating, in 2009.
