WASHINGTON: President Donald Trump reiterated his claim that his administration stopped eight wars, focusing particularly on a dramatic account of averting a nuclear conflict between Pakistan and India.
According to Trump, his intervention came during a heated military engagement where, he asserted, Pakistan had shot down seven Indian jets. “The war between nuclear countries Pakistan and India was stopped through trade,” Trump stated. It had become very serious with Pakistan destroying seven Indian jets, he said. “I told Pakistan and India, if you fight, we will not trade. Twenty-four hours later, they said, we are preparing for a ceasefire.” The core of his claim hinges on leveraging US trade as an ultimatum to force de-escalation.
Regarding China, the US president said, “In two weeks, I will discuss many things with the President of China, and I am going to do a very good job in this discussion.”
